On Monday, January 11, the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that KISCO has been selected as one of 22 leading companies supported under the Global Top Specialty Company program. The announcement was made at a ceremony at the Sejong Convention Centre.
The program provides funding to assist with the development of strategic technologies across six key industries – semiconductors, displays, automobiles, electronics, metal-based mechanical industries and basic chemicals. The companies selected under the program were judged on the basis of technology innovation capabilities and future growth potential.
KISCO will receive up to 5 billion won (~$US5 million) in annual R&D investment support from the government over the next 5 years. KISCO will receive support to test mass production with customers and support to move new technologies through to commercialization. The government will also provide assistance with fast-track licencing, export marketing and online exhibitions.
