JMC has completed the construction of a new factory in Ulsan, South Korea, that will produce a key ingredient for NB-LATEX, an eco-friendly material that is gaining market share as a replacement for natural latex.
NB-LATEX does not contain volatile organic compounds. The production process requires an anionic surfactant called Alkyl Diphenyl Oxide Disulfonate (ADPOS), which will be produced in the newly completed factory. The factory, built on the existing company site in the Onsan National Industrial Complex, covers a total area of 2,770 square meters and cost 17.8 billion won. The operation of the factory is expected to create about 40 jobs.
JMC was established in Busan in 1953 and moved to Ulsan in 1980. It was the first company in Korea to produce saccharin and supplies saccharin to the world’s largest, quality-oriented, multinational food and medicine producers.
JMC also exclusively produces a semiconductor material called BCMB in Korea, which is entirely exported. With the completion of this factory, JMC is expected to expand its business and further broaden its global market in the field of chemical materials.
